can't change workgroup

Hello, I have just built a desktop with WIN XP PRO and have installed SP3, the desktop is in the workgroup company name.
I need to put this desktop into a domain.I need to change because i have problem during install photocopy printer serial port,the printer can't run setup completely,suddenly stop, maybe i suspect port crash with dot access(Barcode) port,i can't unistall dot access,this part installed by specialist before.Anything no problem,just printer can't run setup.

I am logged in as the Administrator, I go into control panel, system, computer name and then click on change. Now the problem I have is the domain and the workgroup fields are greyed out. I can not select them or edit them.

The network card and service are installed and ok.

Any help please?

Start / Setting / Control Panel
Double Click Network Connections
Right Click on your active Local Area Connection (or Wireless Network Connection)
Click on Properties
Look in the "This connection uses the following items:" list box
You should see a checked Client for Microsoft Networks entry
If the entry is there and not checked - check it then click OK

If it is not there:
Click Install
Highlight Client
Click Add
Highlight Client for Microsoft Networks
Click OK
After it adds the client (it may ask for the windows setup disk)
Follow the instructions to reboot.

Double check to see that the "Client for Microsoft Networks" is there and checked after you reboot.
You should be able to change your Workgroup name now.
